(WTVM) - Republican Casey Cagle, the current Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, announced that more than 100 sheriffs in total have endorsed his campaign to become the next governor of Georgia.
Cagle says "respected and trusted leaders" like the sheriffs prove he is the right person for governor.
103 sheriffs across the state have publicly shown their support for Cagle, including several local sheriffs.
Harris Co. Sheriff Mike Jolley, Schley Co. Sheriff Shane Tondee, Stewart Co. Sheriff Larry Jones and Sumter Co. Sheriff Pete Smith are among those supporting Cagle.
Cagle has served as the Lieutenant Governor since 2007.
The gubernatorial election will take place in November.
