COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Local businesses being able to stay open and sell alcohol on Super Bowl Sunday was on the agenda at the Columbus City Council meeting Tuesday.
The vote passed 7-0 at the meeting.
This isn't the first time businesses have been allowed to sell alcohol on Sundays. City officials allowed the sale of alcohol on New Year's Eve of 2017.
The city attorney says the difference in this regulation is normally the places that sell over 50 percent of food are the only ones authorized to sell alcohol on Sunday.
Now all places that sell alcohol including liquor stores and bars will be able to open their doors on Super Bowl Sunday.
