Tax season is back and so are the scams.

The Eufaula Police Department has issued a warning to be hyper-aware of IRS scams that could be heading your way soon.

The department says it has already had a few reports of scams during this week’s brief government shutdown.

Here are a few reminders to keep yourself protected:

  • The IRS never initiates contact by phone, email, or text.
  • The IRS will never call and demand payment immediately.
  • The IRS does not obtain warrants to make an arrest for failure to pay.
