2 Lee County residents die after treatment for flu-like symptoms

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

Two Lee County residents have died after being treated for flu-like symptoms.

According to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris, a 56-year-old man from Smiths Station went to the hospital with flu-like symptoms and died Jan. 11. His case is not confirmed as a death resulting from the flu.

An 88-year-old man from Opelika died Jan. 2 at a nursing home. He had been discharged from the hospital a week prior to his death. He was diagnosed early with the flu, but also suffered from other illnesses.
