COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Retired Colonel John M. House announced his candidacy for the Columbus City Council.
House made the announcement during a press conference at the Columbus City Service Center Wednesday. He was joined by his wife and supporters.
He is running for the District 10 seat which is held by Skip Henderson. Henderson resigned from the seat to run for mayor.
House is a Columbus native who spent 26 years in the Army was a Garrison Commander.
He says he wants to focus on crime and bringing jobs to the area.
"We need a better transportation network in Columbus so we can bring business in. That would also resolve the poverty issue I believe and bring more jobs," says House.
Election day is May 22.
