COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Two seats for the Muscogee County School Board will soon be vacant.
District 8's Frank Myers and John Thomas of District 2 announced they will not seek re-election. The two board members shared some of the reason why they will not run for their seats next term.
"We both felt like we had an opportunity to make some improvements in the way things are done in the school district and in things that would benefit schools students, teachers, employers and taxpayers in Muscogee County. We've been stifled at every turn," says Myers.
To make change sometimes it just takes a long time. Hopefully, this is like the second stage. So, I think John and I are both looking forward to other people stepping up and hopefully building on the momentum that we created," Myers added.
Myers and Thomas will continue to serve until the end of their terms in December 2018. This is their first term on the Muscogee County School Board.
