COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Two mothers in Columbus came together to celebrate the loss of their children.

Nedra King and Cathy Caldwell released balloons Thursday in remembrance of their sons Damon and Donald.

The men died 16 years ago today after the vehicle they were passengers in ran off the road on Lindsay Drive.

The driver of the car was found guilty of vehicular homicide and received a 30-year prison term.

They were so joyful and they had so much life and so much to offer, but it was taken away suddenly,” says Caldwell.

He only served 10 years of his 30-year sentence and has been released,” King says.

King and Caldwell say the driver was speeding and no one in the car was wearing seatbelts. Both mothers say they don’t want other families to go through pain such as theirs.
