COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Two students at Shaw High School were charged with offenses following an incident Thursday.
An argument between two male students in the school's hallway escalated to include a third male student and female student.
A school resource officer deescalated the situation, however, the female student failed to comply with the officer's requests during the incident.
After the incident was deescalated, a set of brass knuckles were discovered in one of the male student's possession.
A 17-year-old male student was charged with obstruction and carrying a weapon in a school safety zone. A 14-year-old female student was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction.
Both students face immediate disciplinary action. Students are not permitted to carry or use weapons of any kind while on school grounds. The Student Code of Conduct outlines expectations pertaining to weapons and behavior on campus.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Columbus Police Department.
