COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Hospice's Board of Directors has named a new Chair for 2018.
Richard Nurnberg will now fill the role previously held by Bruce Bacon.
Nurnberg is currently the President of the National Infantry Museum and spent more than 30 years as a dentist. He says his goals as the new Chair include continuing the fine work done by the 2017 Chair in helping Columbus Hospice to maintain its reputation as the best hospice choice in the area.
One factor that made Nurnberg want to be a part of the organization is the care that hospice provided to his parents.
"My father, and later my mother were under hospice care for the last part of their lives, and that care was for me and my family as much as for my mother. It made a difficult transition period less traumatic for all of us," says Nurnberg.
He also says he hopes to leave his successor a Columbus Hospice that is vibrant and strives for excellence in all areas.
