COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local veteran received a helping hand in finishing a job that became more than he could carry out.
Richard Ford had a heart attack while remodeling his home. His wife is disabled as well. House of Heroes teamed up with Home Depot to finish what Ford started.
The organization stepped in and completed the remodel.
"It feels wonderful for House of Heroes and for Home Depot to be able to do this for me and my wife. We both are disabled and we can't get a lot done. House of Heroes and Home Depot are both doing a good job," says Ford.
Ford will also receive $6,000 worth of appliances. The project is expected to wrap up by Friday and there will be a flag ceremony later in the week.
