St. Francis kicks off 'Go Red' event for heart disease awareness

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The American Heart Association kicked off its Go Red Day event at St. Francis Hospital. WTVM's anchors and other participants wore red Friday in honor of the event.

Go Red Day is a day that kicks off a campaign to educate people about heart disease affecting women and people across the country.

St. Francis Hospital employees and volunteers wore red and created a giant heart Friday morning at the Butler Pavilion.

Materials to show the effects of heart disease and how to prevent it was also handed out to people.

Cardiologists with St. Francis hospital told us how you can lower your risk factors for heart disease.
