COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Students at Britt David Elementary Magnet Academy wrapped up an event this week called the Great Kindness Challenge.
The Great Kindness Challenge is a worldwide event that takes place in efforts to empower children to create a culture of kindness. Students are challenged to do a series of kind acts during the week where they will see how each kind act affects their peers and their school.
"As our shirts say, kindness is free. It's not something that kids have to pay for, it's not something that they have to go out and get. It's something you can do for people. And the back of our shirts says think before you speak, commented Monica Meclin, a counselor at Britt David Magnet Academy.
Some of the challenges included:
- Smile at 25 People
- Slip a nice note in your friends' backpack
- Make a new friend
- Compliment five people
- Help a younger student
- Hug your friend
- Thank a bus driver
