Auburn man arrested, charged with robbery

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

An Auburn man has been arrested on a felony warrant.

Tommie Tyson Jr., 21, was arrested Saturday and charged with third-degree robbery.

Police responded to the parking lot of a convenience store in the 800 block of E. Glenn Avenue. A 19-year-old male was reportedly sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by an individual who demanded money and his cell phone.

The suspect began to hit the victim after he refused to comply. When officers arrived on the scene, Tyson Jr. was located hiding behind the business. He was then taken into custody.

According to police, Tyson Jr. was identified as the individual responsible for the robbery.

He is being held in the Lee County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation by Auburn police.
