RV City revelers plan to parade rain or shine

Despite the expected showers in the forecast, the show must go on according to revelers at RV City in downtown Mobile.

"As a kid I always saw this. I always said, 'I'm going to be in RV City', and of course here I am," Larisa Dixon said.

Dixon is just one of many that park the family RV under the interstate weeks ahead of Fat Tuesday. As the anticipation grows for Joe Cain day with each parade so do the crowds.

"The music gets loud, everybody is hootin' and hollerin' and to me that's what RV City is all about," Dixon said.

"These people are just like family to us so when we come down here it's like a family reunion," Lee Strickland said.

Strickland is another familiar face at the gravel lot. It's his tenth year coming for the revelry fun.

"There's music, there's food and the kids are all out running around playing football. It's just a big carnival, festival season," Strickland explained.

This carnival season has been a wet one, though. And with more rain in the forecast leading up to Fat Tuesday, some may be doubtful of the good times still rolling but RV City revelers aren't.

"Rain does not bother any of the revelers. You know that! We're under these bridges. These bridges here protect us and that's why we like being up under these bridges because it just rains and we're still out here having a good time," Strickland said.

On Tuesday, the Order of LaShe's had to be postponed due to weather conditions. Their parade is set to roll Wednesday, instead, at 6:30 p.m.
