UPDATE: Mayor Tomlinson releases statement on incident at the Government Center

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A heavy police presence was at the Columbus Government Center following a threat Friday morning.

Employees were evacuated from the building and a portion of 10th Street was blocked off.

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson's office released the following statement on the incident:

"There was a 911 call a little after 7am this morning. The sheriffs office and CPD were both involved. They did deploy bomb dogs. Got the all clear around 8:35 a.m."
