PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A hotel horror story - that’s what a group of students and parents are calling an overnight stay in a Phenix City hotel after they say the rooms were infested with bedbugs.

A group of 60 students and chaperones say they woke up itching, with bites on their face—only to discover their nightmare was a reality.

The group of students stayed overnight at the Days Inn off of Highway 280. The group is in town for the Georgia Thespians Convention in Columbus and paid $3,000 for their stay.

The group’s theater teacher says she saw the bed bugs on their hotel sheets, pillows, and mattresses in multiple rooms.

“The group says they have not been offered a full refund or reimbursement for their stay. Only a refund for one of the rooms, the theater directors room,” says the Theater Director, Brittney White.

The manager of the Days Inn and says an exterminator came out Friday to inspect the hotel and found no reports of bed bugs.

This is a developing story; check back for more updates.
