United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley celebrates 3rd year of 211 service

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley celebrated the third anniversary of its 211 service.

211 is an information and referral line that can be reached by call or text. The line directs users to resources for utility assistance, tax preparation, domestic violence, housing, shelter, healthcare, and more.

The service is free and available 24/7 including holidays.

"People can text their zip codes to 898211 and actually text with a real person. It's not automated. They can ask questions and find the services they need to help them," says 211 Manager Candace Poole.

Since 211 became available in 2014, there has been 23,200 phone calls and nearly 55,000 referrals given.
