UPDATE: 1 dead in shooting near Lucky Food Mart on Floyd Road

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –   Two people were injured during a shooting near a convenience store in Columbus Friday night.

Police were called to a shooting at Lucky Food Mart on Floyd Road shortly after 8 p.m.

According to a police report, an officer entered the parking lot of the store and found a smaller black 4-door vehicle leaving out of the driveway of the business and turned west on Hunter Road and then north on Floyd Road, leaving the scene.

The officer then discovered a black male lying on the ground in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

Other officers who were called out to the scene located a second person who was lying in the street on Kingsberry Dr., which is across from Floyd Rd., suffering from a gunshot wound.

One of those injured died as a result of his injuries Sunday morning. 20-year-old Nicholas Morris was pronounced dead at 9:26 a.m.
