COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Each year, the Boys and Girls Club of the Chattahoochee Valley recognizes both the youth who are making a positive impact in the community and honoring those who help improve young people's lives.
Madden Hatcher, Jr., a community-minded Columbus attorney, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for his contributions improving the lives of young people in the community and is the organization's only inductee this year.
Hatcher served as President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Chattahoochee Valley during the 1960s.
"Madden makes things happen and he has the ability to get things done," said Bill Ploeger, Hatcher's friend and Jordan Agency President.
Hatcher was also involved in the merger that brought the local Boys and Girls Clubs in Columbus and Phenix City together.
Under his leadership, the South Club opened a 7,000 square foot addition, leading membership to triple.
"He's quietly served his community is many different ways, too many to mention," said Richard Bradley, Hatcher's friend and law partner.
Hatcher also serves his growing family well. Hatcher and his wife have four children, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
"I know of no one who is more deserving of this honor," said Ploeger.
