Former 'Youth of the Year' shares success story

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Boys and Girls Clubs have had the mission of helping young people reach their full potential for decades and will soon name this year's Youth of the Year.

One man who held the title is a prime example of the positive impact of the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Antonio Bush is now a professor at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill. The Columbus native was active with the club from elementary to high school and was named the Youth of the Year in 2002.

"For winning the Youth of the Year, I received a laptop and it lasted me from freshmen year to senior year of high school. Without that, it would have been a bit difficult. So, considering all those things the Boys and Girls Club has always been there in some aspect," says Bush.

Bush will be one of the speakers at Thursday night's Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Gala at the National Infantry Museum.
