Students of Smiths Station keep the city clean for MLK Service Day

SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) – The city of Smiths Station is holding its annual City-Wide Cleanup.

More than 100 Students from Smiths Station High School and Glenwood High School were expected to participate in the event.

This is the 16th year of City-Wide Cleanup honoring Martin Luther King Service Day.

A short program kicked off at the Smiths Station Government Center at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

Mayor F. L. “Bubba” Copeland gave the opening remarks that were followed by a student presentation and closing remarks were made by Councilman Morris Jackson.

The event will last until 11:45 a.m. with free lunch at noon for participants at the Government Center.
