COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Many people are out adding to the record numbers for the "Black Panther" movie, and one actor in that film is from the Chattahoochee Valley.

JJ use to come over for vacation bible school and act in a lot of the skits that the team class would win. Hes always a lovable, fun guy, said Family Pastor Tommy Davis.

According to his family, since the time he was young, Jachin JJ Myers has always aspired to be in a superhero movie.

“As a young person he would run around with his older brother playing karate moves and playing a superhero," explained his mother Mbonya Myers.

Now JJ is 24, and he’s made that dream a reality by landing a stuntman role in the Marvel movie "Black Panther." He said he’s happy to share this defining moment in his life with his loved ones.

“I want to thank all of you because all of you have contributed something that I was able to learn from and throw into that bag that helped make me who I am so words just can’t express how thankful and blessed I am.”

His family and friends helped to celebrate his achievement by throwing him a surprise party Saturday evening. Afterwards, they headed to a private screening to catch Myers in action. His mother says shes grateful for everything that has happened.

A lot of times we dont see the things that God can do through our children, and Im happy that he got this opportunity to display his God-given talents like this."

JJ says he will continue to pursue his dream of acting and looks to continue to represent the Fountain City.
