AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The topic of gun control and regulation is a hot topic nationwide and locally. One congressional candidate is holding an open forum on gun safety.
Mallory Hagan is hosting the event in Opelika right now where she is discussing how the community can "better serve and protect our nation's most precious asset."
Following last weeks shooting in Parkland Florida guns and more specifically the regulations surrounding them have once again been thrust to the forefront of peoples minds.
Mallory Hagan, a Candidate for Alabama's third district in the US House of Representatives, held a forum this evening in Auburn to hear community members thoughts on the topics of guns and school. Hagan said it's an issue she's been vocal about for a long time.
"This question was the one that I answered on stage atMisss America and we are still having this conversation. Background checks universally across the board is something that I believe in and am a proponent of and in addition to that closing the loophole of a private sale," said Hagan.
