Auburn girls fall in regional final

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - A strong postseason run ended for the Auburn Lady Tigers Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery. AHS lost to R.E. Lee of Montgomery in the Central Regional Finals 44-36.

It was a tight game through three quarters. Auburn had a 19-18 halftime lead, and it was tied at 31 going into the 4th. In the final quarter, the Generals pulled away, thanks to guard Zipporah Broughton, who led all scorers with 22 points.

A tough way to end the season, but coach Terryland Dawson had a positive message after the game.

"You know something? We have nothing to be ashamed of," Dawson said. "We went out there and played. We were one step away from going to the Final Four, and a lot of teams are at home watching. Stay humble, but be excited about the next year because, you know, we got there. I'm excited and disappointed, but we have a lot to look forward to."

Auburn finishes the season 19-11.
