COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County School Board held a meeting Tuesday where school safety was among the topics discussed.
The meeting began with a moment of silence in memory of those killed and injured in the recent shooting at a Florida High School.
Superintendent David Lewis expressed the need to ensure that proper security measures are in place in the district's schools. He also mentioned the possibility of active shooter training and continued discussions about security.
"I'm confident that If we work as a team and not take anything for granted. We stem situations hopefully before they occur," says Lewis.
Lewis is urging students to speak up if they suspect anyone or have heard any sort of threat.
