OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – East Alabama Medical Center is responding to reports of bed bugs at the hospital.

According to the hospital, there have been isolated incidents of bed bugs that did not originate at the hospital.

EAMC released the following statement on this issue:

“High-quality compassionate health care is our mission each and every day, and to every patient.  It is not uncommon for a situation like this to affect any location where guests come and go with frequency, such as hotels and movie theaters.  We recently had a few isolated bed bug situations, introduced from outside of the hospital. Along with our pest control company, we took immediate and aggressive steps to eliminate the pests and have continually improved our processes to prevent the spread.  We will always work tirelessly to ensure the best environment for our patients, guests and staff.”
