PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -  The Phenix City Board of Education voted on Monday, April 16 to purchase the former St. Patrick’s School for $1.75 million.

The 16-acre property, located at 40th Street and Lakewood Drive, includes 2 buildings - a three-story former convent (approximately 16,000 square feet) and a school (approximately 16,000 square feet) that was constructed in 2012-2013.

The educational facility consists of offices, 11 classrooms, media center, teacher work area, large common area, and commercial kitchen.

The Phenix Board of Education has no immediate, definitive plans, but the site has potential to house expanded preschool services or a new school.

The board has approved the purchase the property using existing funds and no loan is needed.
