Russell County coroner honored by Alabama Coroners Association

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Russell County Coroner Arthur L. Sumbry received two honors at a recent Alabama Coroners Association training conference.

Sumbry was re-elected to serve as a District Director Coroner which oversees other coroners in the state. He has held the position since 2014. Sumbry was also appointed by the Board of the Coroners Association to serve on the training commission to help train other coroners in Alabama.

"It's an honor to have the respect and confidence of my peers and I don't take the appointments lightly. I will approach my responsibilities with the same passion, integrity, and professionalism that I do my job as Russell County Coroner", said Sumbry. "I look forward to sharing my knowledge and working at making a positive impact on our profession".

Sumbry is also seeking his fourth term as coroner.

The Alabama Coroner's Association's Annual Training Conference took place April 9 to April 12 in Orange Beach, Alabama. Some of the workshops featured in the training conference included Intro to Toxicology, How to Work with Your District Attorney, Exhumations, The Last Resort, and Physical Exam of Body at Death Scene & Certification of Death.
