COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The River Safety Committee is comprised of many community agencies that are coming together to host an event their calling "River Savvy Kids."

The event is designed to educate area families about the river.

The free event is Sunday, May 6 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Riverwalk near White Water Express.

Kids will dress up like a pirate and visit several stations to learn about river safety, receiving stamps along the way.

Free child life jackets are provided while sizes and supplies last.
