AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police arrested an Opelika man for robbery.
Jairus Davis, 31, was arrested following an investigation into a robbery that occurred on April 3 at a convenience store in the 1800 block of W. Longleaf Drive.
Police say an armed suspect entered the business and robbed the clerk at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the scene.
On Wednesday, April 18 around 11 p.m., an armed individual matching the same description as the suspect from the previous robbery on W. Longleaf Drive attempted to enter a convenience store in the 3900 block of Cox Road.
The business had just closed, and the clerk denied entry to the suspect who then fled the area.
Suspect information was broadcast to surrounding agencies and minutes later an Opelika Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Davis on I-85 near exit 60.
Further investigation by Auburn and Opelika Police resulted in Davis being identified in these and potentially other robberies in the area.
Davis remains incarcerated in Lee County Jail on a $100,000 bond and other charges are possible.
