COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - An emotional day on Monday for Brookstone's Joel Brown and his family.
Brown signed his letter of intent to run track with William Penn Monday morning.
He was originally scheduled to sign last week but decided to wait because his mother had chemo treatments.
He said he wanted his mother there for the big moment.
"I'm glad she's been able to be here because she's been the one here with me, by my side going everywhere," Brown said.
Brown continued, "She actually went up to William Penn with me, the 14-hour drive, so that was fun. But she's been the one who's been there for me and it means a lot to me that she's able to be here."
