Residents say late-night construction on Warm Springs Road could be breaking a Columbus ordinance

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Residents who live on Pageland Drive in Columbus say the construction on  Warm Springs Road, a street over from them, has been a headache.

"It's really aggravating. Really really aggravating. It keeps you awake. You can't sleep between the noise and the lights," says one Pageland Drive resident.

She says sometimes between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., she hears loud noises and sawing that's keeping her and neighbors up at night.

"I'm trying to rest and relax and get a little peace of mind, and they're out there making racket, moving stuff, cutting stuff, and got it lit up," says another resident.

"It's all day and all night. They work all day and all night. And then one, two and three o'clock in the morning sawing against the concrete."

According to Section 14 of a Columbus ordinance, it could be a violation of the law. Section J of the ordinance says no person shall do or allow construction activities in a residential or commercial district between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following day.

"The noise ordinance that we were told was 10 p.m. If we can't play our music past 10 p.m., don't run your equipment past 10 p.m.," a resident says.

District 8 City Council Member Walker Garret says most of Warm Springs Road is residential. We reached out to the construction company working on the road, and are waiting for a response.
