COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A nonprofit organization in Columbus is hosting a fundraiser to help continue its mission of providing groceries to low-income elderly individuals in the community.
Tuesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 3, Brown Bag of Columbus is selling sandwich meals during its 'Sandwich N More' event. For $10, guests will receive a sandwich, chips, side, and drink.
All proceeds will help provide groceries for the elderly in the community.
"It's more about building families because these people come to us. We will give them hugs, we talk to them, and they call us if they need us," says Vilma Felictiano, director of Brown Bag of Columbus.
The meals are served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Brown Bag is located at the Fort Church, also known as Old Eastern Heights Church, on 17th Street in Columbus.
Brown Bag was organized in 1987 and operated by volunteers. The organization provides groceries to nearly 400 elderly people with low income.
