COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A weekend shooting is leaving at least five people injured, and a community concerned.

The shooting happening on Sentry Street in Columbus Saturday evening during a neighborhood block party.

Marquesa Davis who lives on Sentry Street says what happened this weekend is unlike what’s normally described as a peaceful area.

“It’s usually quiet. When we left home, there was music playing, but when I got home Saturday, it was lit up like police lights, nothing but police," said Davis.

What was supposed to be a weekend block party cut short after what neighbors describe as rounds of gunfire going off in the air.

Lashunda Blount describing the chaotic scene minutes after police arrived.

"I wasn't here five minutes and there was mayhem everywhere. It was bullet shots everywhere. People were just shooting," said Blount.

The event was promoted by Dolla Promotions was called the 4th Annual Sentry Street Day. A yearly event, and according to the promoter, meant to spread love and bring everyone together.

Davis says the event did the opposite, believing this latest shooting only highlights the brutal reality of unexpected shootings and crimes in the area.

“I’m ready to move, I just moved over here and I’m ready to move because you never know when your house going to get shot up," said Davis.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The shooting remains under investigation by Columbus Police Department.
