Auburn man arrested and charged with rape, sodomy

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Auburn police arrested a man on warrants of rape and sodomy May 5.

24-year-old Nicholas Wyatt Augustine was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

Police responded to an early morning report of a sexual assault at a residence in the 300 block of Moore Ave. in Auburn.

Officers met with an 18-year-old female who identified Augustine as the person responsible for sexually assaulting her.

The two met through an acquaintance earlier in the evening at a bar in the 100 block of N. College St. The victim reports that she was invited to Augustine’s residence where he later sexually assaulted her.

She fled immediately after and notified police, which resulted in Augustine’s arrest.

He is currently being held in the Lee County Jail on a $125,000 bond.
