(WTVM) - Tuesday was a big day for high school athletes moving to the next level as a pair of area high schools held mass signings.
Smiths Station held a morning ceremony, with 13 Panthers accepting college scholarships.
Two basketball players signed, Jaylen Madden with CVCC and Stevie Pringle with Langston University.
Allen Phouthonesny signed to play soccer at Huntingdon College, while Sara Story will play soccer at Sweet Briar College in Virginia and Anna Galarza will play at Middle Georgia State.
The largest group came in track, with five athletes signing scholarships – Kentray Mercer (Columbus State), Charles Hughes (Columbus State), Treyvon Jones (Hinds CC, Miss.), Seth Mattocks (Univ. of Mobile), and Alex Craig (Army).
Baseball players Tyler Byrd (Southern Union CC) and Justin Owens (Bevill State CC) signed with Alabama junior colleges, as did tennis player Dominique Ingram (Marion Military).
Six athletes from Northside signed on the dotted line on Tuesday afternoon.
Three signed with Point University – Hope McNair (swimming), Joseph Gueringer (soccer), and Jaden Adams (soccer).
Waggener Davidson signed a baseball scholarship with ABAC, with Chance Hatcher signing to play basketball at Andrew College, and Jalen Tucker to play basketball at Pasco-Hernando State College in Florida.
