COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One the largest food drives in the nation is taking place this weekend.
Postal workers are teaming up for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Donated food will be collected Saturday, May 12.
Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in thousands of cities across America collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices. The food is given to food banks and shelters in the community.
James Cadien with the United States Postal Service says that during this time of year, some food banks in the area tend to run low on food.
He further explains how the food drive works, the type of items needed, and more.
