Fort Benning investigators searching for woman involved in kidnapping incident on post, child safe at home

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Fort Benning investigators are asking the public for assistance in identifying and locating a woman involving an alleged kidnapping incident.

Officials say the incident happened on post at the McGraw Village of Fort Benning March 31, 2018.

A source close to the family has confirmed that the girl was playing a few houses down from her own when a woman drove up to her and grabbed her up. The girl was able to escape from the car and return home.

Officials say the child reported the incident to her parents and is okay and in good health at her parents home safe.

Officials released a sketch of the woman they believe is involved in the incident. The woman is described as 5'6,"  thin, with long brown curly hair. She was believed to be wearing a white shirt with black circles on it with blue jeans during the incident.  They also included a photo of a green Dodge Charger as a 2011 model or newer,  as a description of the vehicle involved in the incident.

The unidentified woman is facing charges of kidnapping of a minor. Investigators are offering a reward of $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
