CVCC heading back to JUCO World Series

(WTVM) - For the fourth time in five seasons, the Pirates of Chattahoochee Valley Community College are heading to the JUCO World Series.

CVCC bested Wallace-Hanceville Monday in the ACCC Tournament Championship 10-5 to earn an automatic bid to the national tournament.

Chattahoochee Valley came out strong in Monday's finals, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. Hanceville kept with them, scoring two of their own in the top of the 2nd, but CV came right back with another run in the bottom of the frame.

Back and forth they went until the Pirates began to pull away, scoring seven runs the rest of the way, only allowing two from the Lions.

Up next is a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado, where they'll participate in the JUCO World Series, representing the Southeastern district. As of Monday, May 14, they are the only ones to qualify for the tournament. CV will face the winner of the Northern district on Saturday, May 26 at 2 eastern, 1 central.
