Columbus police closing 2018 Andrews Road murder case

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A murder investigation in Columbus is over before it can truly begin. Columbus police are closing a fresh case after realizing all key players are now deceased.

Spencer was shot and killed at an unlicensed nightclub along Andrews Road on April 1, 2018. Along with the death of Spencer, 43-year-old Darryl Boggans was also shot.

The shooting sparked an immediate investigation by police.

Aggravated assault warrants were issued for Damion Collier, accused of shooting Boggans on Andrews Road.

Boggans surviving the Easter weekend shooting along Andrews Road died following another fatal shooting that happened on Winston Road weeks later.

Collier also died following an officer-involved shooting at Wilson Homes Apartments.

Police are closing a fresh case after realizing all key players are deceased.

"It appears everyone involved in that is now deceased. We are wrapping up all the loose ends on Andrews Road. Pretty much, it is closed, but we are tying up loose ends on it right now," said Maj. Hawk of Columbus Police Department.

Investigators are still waiting on ballistic test results to determine if Collier was the gunman who pulled the trigger on Spencer Easter Sunday on Andrews Road.

While the case is somewhat closed, officers are still asking for the public's help.
