Phenix City to spend $1M to repair AC system at Central Activity Center; facility will temporarily close

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - An unexpected issue is costing a city in East Alabama a large sum of money.

Phenix City officials say they will have to spend $1 million to shut down the Central Activity Center for the summer to fix the air conditioning system.

Engineers say the air conditioning system has been worked on for years and dates back to the 1970s. The center is expected to close at the beginning of June while repairs are underway for three months.
