The new work week brings little change in the recent stretch of weather. The Valley will remain stuck in an unsettled pattern through Memorial Day weekend, with each day featuring 50-60% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, the latter particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.
We remain warm and muggy too, with highs remaining in the 80s and lows mild near 70. By the weekend, a developing low in the Gulf of Mexico could bring us a surge of additional moisture that would enhance our rain chances even more.
Regardless of whether this developing system manifests any tropical characteristics, the impacts remain the potential for widespread heavy rain over the holiday weekend. We will continue to fine-tune that forecast for you as we go through the week. In the meantime, keep the umbrella and WTVM Weather app handy for those moments when you do see a thundershower!
