Auburn man arrested, charged with rape and sodomy

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn police arrested a man accused of rape and sodomy Wednesday, May 23.

Drew Michael McCormack, 20, from Auburn is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy following an investigation into an assault that reportedly happened Wednesday,  May 3.

According to the 19-year-old female victim, McCormack is an acquaintance. They met while out with friends at a local establishment downtown. She shared a ride with McCormack to their individual residences.

A short time later, McCormack arrived at her residence uninvited. He entered her residence and forcibly sexually assaulted her.

Auburn police say detectives were able to confirm that McCormack was responsible for sexually assaulting the victim after an investigation.

McCormack was taken into custody after arriving at the Auburn Police Division building to be interviewed and then transported to the Lee County Jail. He is being held on a $125,000 bond.
