House of Heroes gets a boost from Run Across Georgia

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A military non-profit in the Columbus area is getting a helping hand – or feet – from people who are running across Georgia.

On Thursday, the Chattahoochee Valley Chapter of House of Heroes did their part and organized a group of volunteers from Liberty Utilities to be a Hero for a hero.

They helped complete home repairs in Columbus for Ruth Morris, the widow of a veteran. Her late husband was 1st Sergeant Mack Morris, who had a 20-year career in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

"Good people, doing this for me and I'm very thankful and grateful," Ruth Morris said.

Liberty Utilities workers were happy to honor her family's sacrifices.

House of Heroes is one of two beneficiaries of the 10th annual Run Across Georgia with relay teams running this weekend.
