COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

One senior was absent from Hardaway High School’s graduation ceremony Friday, May 25, but it was not his choice to miss it.

Brian Griffith was unable to attend the school’s graduation ceremony at the Columbus Civic Center because he was hospitalized at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

Hardaway High School’s basketball coach and graduation name caller, Kendall Mills, posted the special ceremony on social media, saying that with the help of hospital staff, family and friends, Hardaway’s principal, Matt Bell, Muscogee County School District’s Regional Chief, James Wilson, and himself were able to attend in person. Superintendent Dr. David Lewis was able to take part via telephone.

The group of men came to the hospital in full graduation regalia to present Brian, donning his own cap and gown, with his diploma.

Brian’s hospital room was filled with balloons and family and friends who would not miss this special occasion.

Congratulations, Brian!
