COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Piedmont Columbus Regional is raising awareness about college savings.
For the third consecutive year, the hospital has partnered with Path2College, a financial planning organization, to remind families about the Path2College 529 Plan. The plan is designed as a program to save for your child's education.
"I say very often the best day to start saving for college is today, regardless of how old your child is. We're doing what we can to get the word out so that people know about it sooner and as far as their children are concerned, today is the day to start saving, " said Mitch Seabaugh, executive director of Path2College 529 Plan.
The first baby born on May 29 at Piedmont Columbus Regional was Thomas Banks Cashbaugh.
His mother and father were presented with a check on Tuesday for $1,529 to contribute to his 529 Plan account and raise awareness about financial planning.
