FIRST TO ALERT: Hot weekend and a few more thunderstorms before a big pattern change.

Rain chances stick around through the weekend, but they are much lower in comparison to the wet pattern of late. June kicks off overall to a drier start with 30-40 percent coverage of thunderstorms each day. More sunshine fights its way back into the forecast, but doesn't return in full until next week.

For Friday and the weekend, afternoons will run on the steamy side with highs climbing into the low 90s; however, it will feel much more like the upper 90s thanks to the oppressive humidity lingering in the wake of Alberto.

But, we promise a change is in sight! A front moving through Sunday will bring welcome relief in the way of a drier air mass that settles in for the long haul next week. Expect lower humidity, pleasant days, and abundant sunshine, with lows dropping into the low-mid 60s and highs in the upper 80s. Plus, rain chances look scarce past this weekend.

Not too shabby for the first full week of June!
