CPD continues to search for vehicle in connection to Alta Vista Dr. deadly shooting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department continues to investigate the deadly shooting that claimed the life of 74-year-old William Meadows.

The investigation has revealed a possible suspect vehicle described as a two-door white crossover/hatchback. That vehicle was observed driving down Alta Vista Drive when the shots were fired.

On Saturday, April 28 around 4 p.m., police were called to Alta Vista Drive regarding reports of a shooting.

Two officers responded to Alta Vista Drive and spoke with some residents.  However, the officers were unable to locate exactly where the shots had been fired or if anything/anyone had been struck.

People in the area of 1545 Alta Vista reported to the officers that they heard shots going through the tree line behind their houses.

The next morning friends of William Meadows came by his residence to visit.  It was at this time that Meadows was discovered deceased.

    The father of two told police in court papers released Monday that he killed his pregnant wife after witnessing her strangling one of the girls on a baby monitor.
