House of Heroes 'redeem the block' with cleanup at Army widow's home

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The House of Heroes-Chattahoochee Valley Chapter honored a veteran's widow as part of its 'redeem the block' event Friday.

Capt. Jerry Miller and the soldiers of Task Force 1-28 Infantry Excalibur Battery organized and completed the cleanup efforts at the home of Marlene Brigham in honor of her late husband, 1st Sgt. Earle Brigham.

Earle Brigham served in the U.S. Army for more than 25 years and earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star medal along with several other medals and honors.

Earle Brigham passed away in 2010.

"He served 28 years. He was a sergeant major and he loved serving his country. He was at Vietnam four times. They've cleaned up my yard and they pressure washed my house which is great," said Marlene Brigham.

The mission of the House of Heroes is to recognize and honor military and public safety veterans and their spouses who have served our county faithfully and sacrificially.
