Fountains in Uptown Columbus turn purple for Alzheimer's Awareness Month

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The city of Columbus has turned purple as Friday marked Alzheimer's Awareness Month.

The fountains in Uptown Columbus are lit up with purple as the Alzheimer's Association works to raise awareness about the disease.

More than five million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer's and dementia. It's also the sixth leading cause of death.

The fountains in Uptown will remain the color purple for the month of June.
